IPE2007 - Effective Management of Football as a co-curricular activity (CCA) in Secondary schools - Basic Football Training & Laws of The Game (LOTG)

  • Football is a popular sport, generates vast interest and is constantly evolving. Hence, it will be beneficial for the teacher-in-charge of the football Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) programme to be equipped with the basic knowledge of the game i.e. designing a coaching plan, key coaching points for an effective training session and understanding the fundamental Laws of the Game (LOTG), so that he/she could value add to the sport.

    The purpose of this course is to introduce the basic requirements in conducting a basic football training session in a Secondary school setting, key factors in organising tournaments and to be updated on the Laws of the Game.

  • At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • Have a better understanding on the preparation required for Secondary school level prior to football competition
    • Plan and conduct an effective basic training session
    • Plan and organise a mini football tournament
    • Be informed of the latest changes and have a better interpretation of the LOTG
  • A combination of the theoretical and practical aspects in this course will provide participants with the necessary knowledge in planning and conducting simple yet effective football training at the Secondary school level. The course also highlights the sequence of preparation required in the lead up to schools football competition, as well as key considering factors in organising football tournament. Furthermore, participants will also be updated on the Laws of The Game (LOTG) and the major amendments made recently by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

    Upon confirmation, payment is required for all courses. Payment should only be made after the course placement letter has been sent to participants to confirm the application. Cancellations/withdrawals are not allowed. However, a replacement may be sent to attend the same course.

    Payment through GIRO/IFAAS

    NIE will proceed to invoice the respective schools, and they can make payment through GIRO or IFAAS. The amount payable should be credited into the NIE bank account number 518-041272-001.

    Payment by Cheque

    Please submit the cheque together with the application form. Cheque should be made payable to “National Institute of Education” and participant(s)’ name and course(s) clearly indicated on the reverse of the cheque.

    NIE will acknowledge receipt of the application form through email within one week. The course placement letter will be emailed to applicants who have been successfully placed in a course and upon course confirmation.


    Please note that NIE reserves the right to replace an instructor for a course if the lecturer is unable to teach the course due to unforeseen circumstances. No refund of the course fee will be made to participants.
