We extend our heartiest congratulations to our Lab Leader, Associate Professor Low Ee Ling for receiving the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Honoured Faculty Award in 2014 and Mr Jasper Sim Hong who went on to obtain an M.Phil (with distinction) in linguistics at the University of Cambridge in 2015!
Mr Jasper Sim Hong derived great intellectual discourse and even found a good mentor with like-minded values. (pictured above)
Associate Professor Low, one of Mr Sim’s lecturers for a senior year module in phonetics and phonology, was nominated at the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award ceremony and awarded the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Honoured Faculty Award by the President of NTU for inspirational mentorship in 2014. Associate Professor Low was commended by Mr Sim to be “truly an inspirational figure to all her students and has left an indelible mark on me”.
Mr Sim added: “She knew and understood my aspirations. Apart from imparting invaluable academic knowledge and skills, she also influenced us, student teachers, in positive ways, thanks to her affable and exuberant personality which was evident in her teaching. She was a patient, dedicated and sincere educator whose passion for the subject emanated in all that she did.”
