It was reported that a total of 29
candidates received their graduation certificates at the graduation dinner for
NIE’s Leaders in Education Programme (LEP). Of the three award winners this
year, the report highlighted Mr Suraj Nair Venugopal who received the Academy
of Principals Prize for Leadership Learning. The
prize was awarded to him for the highest level of learning through a journal to
reflect upon his beliefs, values and purposes about leadership, management, teaching
and learning, triggered by the diverse learning experiences encountered in LEP.
The report noted that through his LEP project which encouraged his
students to analyse the issue of graciousness in Singapore, Suraj had shared
that the project aims to reinforce that education by book is
not enough; students should be an all-rounder and a good citizen.
