Monday, 05 October 2009

What is the definition of a caring teacher? To the organising committee of Caring Teacher Awards (CTA), the attributes of a caring teacher is someone grounded in values; who cares, shares and shows concern for the academic, moral, social, emotional and mental welfare of his/her students.

Nominations for the Caring Teacher Awards are open from now to 26 November 2009. And the CTA organising committee hopes that more members of the public will seek to recognise the invaluable contribution of such teachers and nominate them for these awards. All nominations will be considered and at the end of the process, one primary school, one secondary school and one junior college/centralised institute teacher will be honoured at a special ceremony to be held in April 2010.

To facilitate the nomination process and encourage more nominations, the CTA organising committee has launched a CTA website,, where the public can visit for more details on CTA.

The eighth CTA 2010 is jointly organised by the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, with support from the Ministry of Education, Singapore. The awards, held biennially, were first given out in 1996.
