E.W. Barker Challenge 2018
Wednesday, 28 March 2018
The annual E.W. Barker’s Challenge was held on Wednesday, 28 March 2018 to celebrate the legacy of the late Mr Edmund William (EW) Barker and his contribution to education and sports. This scholarship is awarded annually to deserving students who show exemplary achievements in their academics, sports performance and leadership qualities. This year, two SSM students, Ms Low Hui Min and Mr Keith Saw received the prestigious E.W. Barker Scholarship valued at $8000 per annum each.
The recipients of last year’s E.W. Barker Scholarship were tasked to organize the event with the Sport Science and Management (SSM) Society and PESS Club members. We were honored to have Ms Carla Barker and Ms Deborah Barker, the daughters of the late Mr E.W. Barker as our Guests of Honor. Dean of OTE, Associate Professor Liu Woon Chia, Associate Dean of OER, Professor John Wang, PESS Head, Associate Professor Koh Koon Teck and other distinguished guests were also present to grace the occasion.
The event was successfully conducted with a total of 80 participants who were made up of 14 university and 6 Junior Colleges teams.
We are thankful to the dedicated workforce of SSM students and PESS Club volunteers who made this event a resounding success.
