LEADERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMME (LEP) GRADUATION DINNER 2008 ON FRIDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2008, 7.30PM AT FOUR SEASONS HOTEL, FOUR SEASONS BALLROOM, LEVEL TWO, 190 ORCHARD BOULEVARD, SINGAPORE
Forty senior educators will receive their Leaders in Education Programme (LEP) certificates at a graduation dinner to be held on 10 October 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education & Second Minister for Defence will grace the occasion.
Conducted over a six-month period by the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore, the LEP is a full-time executive programme for talented educators selected by the Ministry of Education (MOE) for principalship. The LEP focuses on innovation and the creation of new knowledge. Participants' thinking is provoked through a series of challenging experiences, which include an industrial attachment, working on innovation in the school setting, seminars with international experts and an overseas learning experience. Through these experiences, the participants are able to reflect and realise how to lead their schools and bring them to new heights, giving teaching, learning and leading a whole new realm!
Some of the interesting projects undertaken by this year's cohort are as follows:
1. iCREATE Portal @ Chung Cheng High School (Main) by Mdm Thian Ai Ling
2. Seeds of Change, Growing Leaders @ Yuhua by Ms Janis Lee Ling Poh
3. FRIENDS: Fernvale: Reaching out to IntErNational stuDentS by Mrs Chaillan Mui Tuan
In the eight years since it started, the LEP has attracted unparalleled international attention. NIE has welcomed government ministers and a host of overseas educators to observe this pioneering work in leadership. The Institute is now actively involved in offering other countries this platform to build and develop their leadership capabilities.
The several parties to this collaborative effort include NIE academics, MOE staff, steward principals, mentoring principals, cluster superintendents as well as industry leaders.
The programme for the evening is at Annexe A. The list of prize winners is at Annexe B and synopsis for three of the innovation projects presented by the participants are at Annexe C.
