NIE Literature Conference 2013: Why (Not) Literature?

The Literature section of the ELL
Academic Group organized a Literature Conference for Literature educators on 25
January 2013 which was well-attended by more than 200 teachers from 90 schools.
The conference keynote speaker, Vincent O’Leary Distinguished Professor Judith
Langer from SUNY, Albany spoke about how literature was essential for 21st
century learning in line with the conference theme, Why (Not) Literature?. At
the conference, participants had the chance to take part in strand
sessions that sustained discussion about issues relevant to Literature
education and in sharing sessions where schools presented effective Literature teaching
ideas and practices.
