OER Hosts Visitors from South Korea

The Office of Education Research (OER) hosted delegates from South Korea on 24 July 2018, Tuesday. The group of 31 delegates comprised government officials from the nation’s various education departments, members of the Digital Textbook Association, CEOs from private entities and representatives from Seoul National University.

Through the visit, they gained a deeper understanding of the organization and structure of NIE, and some of the efforts put in place to support Singapore’s education system.
The visit started off with a buffet lunch before the delegates were brought to the NIE Visitors Learning Centre (NIEVLC) that was launched in April this year for a tour.

At the NIEVLC, they had an immersive overview of NIE history, significant milestones and the global connections that NIE has established over the years.
Following the VLC tour, Professor David Hung, Dean of OER, then gave an introductory presentation on OER and the work it does.
Professor Looi Chee Kit and Dr Peter Seow from OER proceeded to present on the research and collaborations in the areas of Learning Sciences and Innovation and eduLab respectively.

The visit concluded with a question and answer session whereby delegates posed questions to the presenters about OER research work.
