Two NIE Academics Lauded for Outstanding Work

Learning Sciences Lab (LSL) Senior Research Scientist, Dr Wong Lung Hsiang, will be sworn in as the 11th President of Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE) on 1 January 2018. The Society is an independent academic society whose broad objective is to promote the conduct and communication of scientific research related to all aspects of the use of computers in education, especially within the Asia-Pacific Region. Dr Wong will be the third President of APSCE from Singapore, after Head of Research at LSL, Professor Looi Chee Kit, and Associate Professor Chee Yam San from the Learning Sciences and Technologies Academic Group.
In a symbolic handover ceremony at the International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE) 2017, the flagship event for APSCE, Dr Wong received the presidential document from outgoing President, Professor Wong Su Luan, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Professor Looi was also honoured at the ICCE 2017 Banquet where he was inducted as an Honorary Executive Committee (EC) member of APSCE. The life tenure, is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Society and the international academic field of computers in education.
The events were held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 4 to 8 December 2017. NIE congratulates Dr Wong and Professor Looi for their continual outstanding contributions.
