While most youngsters her age were hanging out at malls or movie theatres on weekends, 20-year old Sherlyn Tan was trekking through jungle trails in Malaysia, kayaking at Kallang Water Sports Centre or helping out at Beyond Social Services, a child-care centre for low-income families.
The Singapore National Day Awards recognise various forms of merit and service to Singapore. This year, a total of 3,514 individuals in 22 award categories received National Day Honours.
