  • Ms Ann Ang is a lecturer with the ELL Academic group at the National Institute of Education and teaches courses related to literature curriculum and assessment. She is currently pursuing her PhD in World Literature at the University of Oxford. Her research work is focused on narrative structures in the world novel. She has a keen interest in narrative structuration, relating to a formalistic analysis of normative worlding in texts which circulate transnationally or globally.  Her other research interests include postcolonial literature in the global moment, Singapore and Malaysian literature as well as creative writing as a pedagogy for the teaching of literature.

    Ann was previously Head of Department for English Language and Literature at CHIJ St. Theresa’s Convent. She has taught A- , O- and N-level Literature in English, as well as Project Work and General Paper in various capacities over nine years. A published writer of fiction and poetry, Ann is the author of Bang My Car (2012), a Singlish-English collection of short stories, one of which was anthologized in Best New Singaporean Short Stories (Volume 1). She was also a featured author at the Singapore Writers Festival in 2014 and 2016.
