  • Dr Koh Noi Keng is the Chair of the Centre for Financial Literacy and is a Senior Lecturer at the National Institute Education. She teaches the post-graduate course modules for Economics, Business and Accounting Education.  She graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School and obtained her PhD from Curtin University of Technology. After 17 years as a teacher, school leader and the Senior Curriculum Specialist at the MOE HQ, Singapore, she was head hunted to teach at the sole teacher institute in Singapore.  She has also served as consultant to the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), MOE and a few other institutions like the National Healthcare Group and was a faculty associate at A*STAR.  She advocates evidence-based practices and diversity in pedagogical approaches. Being technologically savvy she embraces innovation and galvanises teachers in sharing generously as a networked learning community. Her efforts include organising the annual Commerce Educators Conference for the past decade, providing a window to the world of industry practices to keep educators abreast of current developments in the field.

    As Chair of the Centre for Financial Literacy at NIE, she has initiated financial literacy programmes at national level and is spearheading innovative programmes for values-based financial literacy. She is also Advisor to the 5,000-member strong Nanyang Technological University Investment Club (NTU-IIC).  

    She is also the Principal Investigator for several research studies as she has clinched competitive grants, not only from the Ministry of Education Singapore but international grants too. She is currently into gamification and mobile apps research that leverage on backend analytics for teaching and learning and flipped instructions. She is Principal Investigator of several grants and has been an external examiner for several doctoral theses and is a reviewer for several journal publications too. She was author and editor of the inaugural International Handbook of Financial Literacy by Springer and is currently editor for another Handbook on Flipped Instructions.

    A much sought after keynote speaker, she has been invited to speak at BETT, academic conferences in Malaysia, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan and France, as well as the Digital Campus Conference in Melbourne last year.
