  • Poh Soon Koh is a lecturer at the National Institute of Education (NIE), English Language & Literature academic group. He was previously head of English & Literature department of two secondary schools before joining NIE. He left the Ministry of Education (MOE) as a Senior Education Officer. While holding the appointment of head of English, Poh Soon Koh held the concurrent appointment of School Staff Developer (SSD) in charge of teachers' professional development. 

    He was nominated for the Nanyang Education Award (School) in 2013 for excellence in teaching. He was awarded the MOE Most Caring Teacher award in 2002. Poh provided consultancy to Ateneo de Manila University High School in the area of language teaching methodologies, assessment and the use of ICT in the classrooms. He was invited to conduct a workshop on promoting active learning for the teaching faculty of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University Under the Royal Patronage (VRU), Pathumthani, Thailand.  He was a member of the group from the NIE English Language and Literature AG to provide consultancy for the Singapore Ministry of Education’s English Language Syllabuses 2020 and the instructional manuals.

    Poh Soon Koh provided consultancy to secondary schools in the area of writing methodologies, teaching of grammar and setting questions for English Language examination papers.  He is currently the Chairman of a School Advisory Committee (SAC). He is presently pursuing a part-time doctorate degree. His dissertation is in the area of cultural influences of teacher learning.
