Dr Tricia Seow is a geography educator and geography education researcher. Her research interests include teacher subject identities and their alignment to professional practice. She also actively engages in research related to geographical inquiry in both the classroom and in the field, as well as sustainability education. Her current projects include supporting dialogic classroom talk in geographical inquiry, and field-based inquiry through the HSSE Sustainability Learning Lab.
Dr Seow has wide-ranging teaching experience. This includes school experience as a former subject teacher and Head of Department within MOE. In her current capacity at NIE, she teaches across all programmes offering geography –pre-service programmes covering both geographical content courses and pedagogy courses, through to higher degree and in-service courses. She also has taught teacher professional development workshops in overseas contexts, including Brunei and Pakistan.
Dr Seow currently serves as an Assistant Head of HSSE. She is active member of the geography fraternity, having served on numerous Syllabus Development Committees for geography and on the Steering Committee Member of the Talent Development Programme with the Humanities Branch of MOE. She is a Core Team member of the Geography Subject Chapter, Academy of Singapore Teachers, and serves as the Honorary General Secretary of the Southeast Asia Geographers Association. She has also applied her fieldwork expertise as a Fieldwork Task Force member and co-chair for the International Geography Olympiad from 2015-2017.
